XRP Price Analysis: Why I'm Turning Bearish on XRP | Crypto Market Insights (2026)

I've been a long-time advocate for XRP, but recent developments and a deeper understanding of its blockchain mechanics have prompted a shift in my perspective. The original allure of XRP, as pitched by Ripple, was its potential as a bridge currency for cross-border payments. However, the rise of stablecoins, including Ripple's own RLUSD, has rendered this thesis obsolete. RLUSD, with a market cap exceeding $1.5 billion, offers stability and versatility, making it a preferred choice for financial institutions over the volatile XRP.

One new investment angle for XRP focuses on its potential as a hub for tokenized real-world assets. While the XRP Ledger has seen growth in this area, with $428 million in tokenized assets as of May 12, this growth doesn't translate into significant demand for XRP itself. The network's transaction fees, which are burned after payment, contribute negligibly to the coin's supply, making it challenging for XRP holders to notice any meaningful price impact.

What's concerning is the disconnect between XRP's investment appeal and its success as a financial platform. Ripple's business model doesn't inherently create organic buy demand for XRP. This structural flaw is a key reason for my growing bearishness.

Despite this, I'm not ready to abandon XRP just yet. Ripple has a vested interest in XRP's price, and they've been actively upgrading the XRPL and seeking new customers. However, the gap between Ripple's network success and XRP's poor returns suggests a structural issue rather than a temporary blip. While transaction fee structures and blockchain supply policies can change, the likelihood of Ripple directly improving XRP for holders seems low at present.

In my opinion, the value gap between XRP's investment potential and its practical use is a critical issue that investors should consider. The proliferation of stablecoins and the specific mechanics of the XRP Ledger's transaction fees highlight a challenging environment for XRP to thrive as an investment. While Ripple's efforts are commendable, the structural challenges XRP faces are significant and should not be overlooked.
