This directly contradicts the IDF's claim that the car was accelerating towards them. The video also reveals that the family had complied with the soldiers' orders to stop, further casting doubt on the IDF's narrative.
What makes this incident particularly disturbing is the apparent lack of accountability for Israeli soldiers accused of harming Palestinians. According to the Israeli rights group Yesh Din, soldiers are rarely penalised, with less than 1% of cases based on 2,427 complaints alleging wrongdoing between 2016 and 2024 resulting in indictment. The UN has also raised concerns, noting that more than 1,000 Palestinians, including at least 240 children, have been killed in the West Bank and East Jerusalem since the war between Hamas and Israel in Gaza began in October 2023.
